Prva gimnazija Maribor has a long tradition of working with gifted students. Various activities, like workshops, field exercises and field trips, are organized for all students. Moreover, gifted students are offered an option of individual lessons and other fields of interest tailored for them. A lot of attention is devoted to the development of their potentials and talents, as well as the care for their psychosocial and emotional development. Similarly, at Prva gimnazija Maribor a lot of attention is also paid to the mentors of the said students. It is believed to be very important that the mentors enable just the right amount of guidance and freedom to the students, and that they adapt to the specific needs of the individuals. Furthermore, during work with gifted students, the staff at Prva gimnazija also connect with external mentors from various faculties, institutes and other institutions.
