The National Information Centre for Education and Talent Development is founded by the Ministery of Education, Culture and Science in January 2000. This information centre is part of the Netherlands Institute for Curriculum Development (SLO).
The main goal of the Information Centre is to gather information on good policy and practice in the area of giftedness and talent development in primary and secondary education, and to share this information with our target audience.
Our target audience includes those involved in gifted and talented education, such as experts in the field of giftedness, researchers, educational advisors, tutors, teachers, foundations, interest groups, parents and individual learners.
We organize expert seminars, workshops and information and exchange meetings for representatives of different groups. The feedback from these meetings help us to update our information and define the goals of the development projects of SLO on talent development so that they meet the actual needs of the talented and gifted students in the Netherlands.
We are also a responsible for advising the Ministery of Education, Culture and Science on gifted and talented education. We manage a digital helpdesk and support (regional) talent networks.
An important component of our Information Centre is our interactive website www.talentstimuleren.nl with online working groups and a database that allows you to easily find specific information and tools.
